D.i.y. Hand Sanitizer

D.i.y. Hand Sanitizer

With the world going crazy over Covid-19 and everyone stock pilling on supplies, it's been hard to find hand sanitizer and toilet paper. I can't make d.i.y. toilet paper, so todays blog will help with the other problem... Hand Sanitizer! This recipe is super simple and only requires 3 ingredients, which hopefully you have at home. Ingredients: 1.) Aloe Plant or pre-bottled aloe gel 2.) 60% or higher Isopropyl Alcohol 3.) Tee Tree Oil or any Essential Oil for smell Supplies: 1.) Sharp Knife 2.) Mixer with bowl or Blender 3.) Bottle to store hand sanitizer Tips The CDC recommends using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content. Mix 2 parts isopropyl alcohol to 1 part aloe vera gel. Make sure that the tools you use for mixing are properly sanitized; otherwise you could contaminate the whole thing. Also, the World Health Organization recommends letting your hand sanitizer sit for a minimum of 72 hours after you're done. That way the sanitizer has time to kill any bacteria that might have been introduced during the mixing process. Using aloe gel may leave your hands slightly stickier then store bought hand sanitizer. Directions: 1.)Prepare your aloe: Cut a few pieces of aloe leafs off of your plant depending on how much mixture you want to make.Next, cut off the side edges that have the sharp points and slice off one side of the aloe so you see the gel that is inside. With your knife, glide the gel off the skin and into your mixing bowl or blender. 2.)Add your Isopropyl alcohol. (remember mix 2 parts isopropyl alcohol to 1 part aloe vera gel.) 3.)Add 6-10 drops of scented essential oil (optional, but nice!). 4.)Blend and bottle! Let me know how it turned out!
